![]() ![]() None of the hostages reacted except by groaning. Almost faster than the eye could perceive, the blur went from person to person, cutting off the straps tying down the bombs. Suddenly a blur moved beside the victims and the screams died down. I took a step forward almost involuntarily. I felt as though the air grew heavy and my whole vision was cast in shadow, yet my sight grew ever clearer.ĭusk fell upon the docks as the sun retreated for the night. No, this was wrong! Was it really so easy for normal people to become monstrous? “This is justice, you fucking white trash! This is for my brother that you beat to death!” ![]() The man with the remote looked at the crowd who cheered him. “Justice!” Slowly the crowd started to repeat it. “Justice!” A rallying cry was repeated by someone in the crowd. How was Bakuda any different now from Hookwolf who had organized the beatings of those innocent people? No, no it wasn’t.Įven if they were criminals, there was no justice in torturing them. The agonized expressions on Victor, Othala, and Rune’s face burned themselves into my mind. My hand clutching the white hilt of Carnwennan shook. Shrill screams rang through air as the victims spasmed. He jolted and at the touch and pressed down. “Do it!” Bakuda shouted again and slapped down on his shoulder. He held the remote forward and looked at the moaning E88 members with a peculiar expression, as if in a daze. “Come on, press the button! Punish these racist scum!” She shouted. The crowd was mesmerized as Bakuda gave him instructions. I activated Carnwennan and glanced at the scene of Bakuda laughing while encouraging people from the crowd.Ī young Asian man was holding a remote control hesitatingly. I was given an earpiece to stay in contact with the PRT, and hid by myself behind a nearby warehouse. It was just a temporary way to jam the detonation signals for the bombs strapped to the victims, so it had to be carefully used, because we had only one attempt at this. It wasn’t a counter to all of Bakuda’s bombs. We moved into position while Armsmaster prepared his device for delivery. Or if maybe this IS the track it was intended to take, and I'm just having trouble buying into it. I'm also not sure that this story can get back on track after the last 4-5 chapters. I think that maybe, as powerful as Worm can get, Nasu is just too much? Or maybe people don't introduce the Nasu elements at a pace that Worm can work with. I really, really want to read a good Worm/Nasu cross, but I've yet to find one that holds together for more than a few chapters. ![]() I love the idea of this story (NasuTinker!Taylor), but while the Hookwolf incident could have been the start of something awesome, instead it feels like it was the end. The pacing is frenetic and somewhat random. and then it went off the rails in about six directions at once. The story had a great premise, and a decent starting chapter or three. up until the worshiping, the outing, the random Emma and Greg crap, etc. ![]()
